Over 70% of today’s long term missionaries have already worked overseas on a short term basis at least once.

What can Short Term Workers do?

  • Work in Professional areas (eg teachers, medical workers, engineers, IT, etc)
  • Church work (youth work, music, leading bible studies, etc)
  • Theological Education
  • ESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) - English as a first language is a sufficient qualification in many places.
  • Administration, Building/construction
  • Help in home schooling  (to free up long term missionaries for ministry)
  • All work is done on a voluntary unpaid basis

What type of people go?

  • Christians

  • Those who are flexible, adaptable and teachable

What can a short term mission experience provide for the worker?

  • Spiritual growth

Costs:
Short term workers would need to pay for:


  • Transport to and from destination.
  • Accommodation and food while on the field.  
  • Travel insurance, inoculations, etc (allow $1,000).
  • Other Mission Agency fee (probable if position is found through another agency)
