Travelling alone can be difficult, challenging and at times, unsafe. Travelling and working with a partner provides many benefits. Two by 2 aims to match up two people so that they can go out to work and serve together. This matching is done by taking many factors into consideration - particularly where and when you would like to go and for how long.

Some of the benefits of travelling with someone else are:
- Increased safety
- Companionship
- Prayer support
- Accountability
- Encouragement
- Ease of travel (eg catching local trains, buses, etc)
- Self sufficiency as a unit (less dependent on others - eg on long term workers)
- More economical - for rent, etc.
In many countries, if you are travelling and working together and you are unmarried, the acceptable partners will be two ladies or two men. It is very often unacceptable for an unmarried man and woman to travel together. However some agencies sending teams are happy to accommodate mixed pairs and some established projects on the field would also be happy with this.
An obvious application of the Two by 2 matching process is Short Term Mission (however it can be used for long term workers as well).
